Project
Synopsis:
A Seattle based business theatre producer subcontracted me to
create several animated pieces for one of their largest clients,
Washington Mutual Bank. Each
year Washington Mutual has a huge employee 'State of the Group'
show. In 2003, the show was in the Seattle Convention center,
where over 3,000 employees gathered for information, entertainment,
and motivational speeches. Below, I have shown a few screen
captures of the animations I created. Enjoy!

In
one piece, I was asked to create a celebratory animation that
could honor over 245 employees. The animation had to play
on top of a photographic backdrop projected onto a 20 foot
by 90 foot screen. The photograph was a night time scene of
the Seattle skyline. So, I came up with the idea of an animated
fireworks display to reveal the honoree names. I created over
ten unique fireworks animations; and, then used the Shockwave
application to access an external text file with the 200 plus
names. When played back, the application revealed a group
of three names amidst a randomly selected fireworks animation
until all of the names had been displayed. The client loved
the result...particularly because they could change the names
at a minutes notice. Here are a few screen shots of the final
fireworks animation. Also...Check out the fireworks demonstration
animation, shown above. Enjoy!

Most
of the show had a small, home town theme. One scene takes
place in a 50's style diner. I created a looping animation
of a jukebox for this segment of the show... lights flash,
and records and a play list animate. Here are a few screen
shots of the jukebox.

To
enhance the small, home town theme of the production, several
photographs of a fictional home town were projected onto a huge
(90 by 20 foot screen.) Prior to the production, however, the
client needed to be 'sold' on the small, home town theme...
I created several storyboards, such as the ones shown below,
that did just that. The storyboards were also used by a professional
photagrapher to scout and shoot the fictional home town.

For
the 'Year In Review' segment of the show, the show producer
asked me to create a set of animations that technicians could
access from their keyboards. The idea was to enable the technicians
to follow a speaker's presentation from a back stage monitor
and then enhance the speaker's presentation with animations
fired off from the technicians keyboard. Here are a few screen
shots of the various 'Year In Review' animations.
